View Full Version : [ubuntu] Move window to other desktop/viewport via keyboard

Hello.

Without compiz, I can set up metacity to move windows to specific virtual desktops (for example super-2 moves current window to desktop 2).

How to do the same thing in compiz, i.e move a window to a specific viewport just using a hotkey? Thought this would be an easy one, but no luck yet.

(Although I found Place which starts apps in default viewports, helps a bit )

Right click the title bar and select move to another workspace. :P

fair and well, but was looking for keyboard shortcut (OK, could do alt-space, w, X, but..). But found the solution myself: Enable Put, Under put to arbitrary viewport set up shortcuts. This make it behave as move-and-follow. For only move, check "unfocus window" under misc. options.

The Put plugin has a bug which needs to be patched, and the patch hasn't made it upstream yet. Please see my response to this issue here:
