Hi everyone.

Nine month ago, I was a completely noob in Linux. Nowadays, I'm getting some skills to do things.

One of more those things, is to get my multimedia files from my home servers. One of them is Windows XP, and the big one (CPU is P4, but HDDs are huge) is Ubuntu.

I've learnt to share files with Samba, with SSH and, recently with NFS, only for Linux.

Ok, these are my transfer speeds. Nothing cientifically tested, but it can give us a look about differences (no big).

SSH, naturally loses the race (encription), but nothing important. Three methods, can finelly offer a video streaming or a some pictures.

CONDITIONS.

Client: Medion Akoya Mini, Wifi connected to a Linksys 160N router. WEP encription, 54Mbps connection.

Server: P4, 2,66 Ghz, 1GB RAM, 24x7 torrent and BOINC dedicated. LAN connected via 100 Mbps connection to the router.

Speeds are represented on attached png.

Please feel free to ask any issue,
Hope it help.
Of course, I've learnt to do everything just reading this forum... :-D

Regards,
