Am New to the forum so please bear with me. I downloaded the Dapper i386 file that contained changes as of 1/10/06. After the startup gyrations. an error message pops up saying "Authentication Ubuntu - a critical error occurred. Please look at KDMs log file for more information or contact your system administrator". If I do an OK on that, a dialog box pops up asking for a Username and Password - I don't have the foggiest what to put in those entries. Does anyone know of "canned entries" that I might put in there to get on into the program? Thank you in advance.

NOTE: dapper is in testing things will break, if you want stable run breezy or horay!

Hi: Wasn't being picky on the error message, just thought that I'd mention it. However, tried the "blank" as was mentioned in a follow-on post and it won't accept it. Any other ideas please. Thank you in advance.

did you get as far as setting up a user? I'm guessing that would be the password you would use.

Oh, Oh, looks like I assumed something and have mislead forum members. What I'm trying to run is the "run time" CD, instead of loading a system. In this case, they don't give you any opportunity to do a user setup. They just ask for a user's name and password to get started. Problem isn't resolved yet because of the way the run time CD runs. Thanks again for any replies.
