Hi,

I have been having a lot of problems with ubuntu and have thought about doing a reinstall because suprisingly my hardware worked better when it first started, and then most things steadily stopped working, and to my help, no one replied, and for the most part even viewed, to the two different threads I posted on the same subjects.

Anyway, I would really appreciate it if someone would either tell me how to get compiz back working on my intel GMA 950 on my samsung nc10, after I plugged it into my external monitor.

Otherwise, does compiz work in NBR? if so/not to what extent? I just want some of the cool effects like burn, desktop cube etc. I would really appreciate it this thread could at LEAST get some views. I don't mean to be selfish, but when other threads that were posted after mine have hundreds of views and 20 replies, and I only have the one view that I did to check to make sure it is working, it is a little annoying. I hope that didn't make me sound rude. Help would be very much appreciated! thank you!

Thanks,
Db4sn3r

What doesn't work about it?
Do you have restricted drivers installed? System-Administration->Hardware
Does 3d work at all? (from a terminal- "glxgears")

sorry i didn't elaborate, the effects don't worl at all, they worked before though, IE when I go into appearance and effects or whatever it is (i'm currently in my windows install, can't remember), it searches for drivers, stays at 0% then the windows blink a few times like it is refreshing or something, and then it has a dialog box that says desktop effects could not be enabled. It was working perfectly just two days ago. two nights ago I plugged in my external monitor in, not only was the resolution messed up (something about virtual resolution doesn't match) but the second after I plugged it in desktop of effects wouldn't work, could my monitor have turned off some drivers some how?

I will give you the output of the terminal command in a few minutes because I am in my windows install. I have an intel GMA 950 in this netbook (samsung nc10).

Have their been any other reports of similar things about this? I would assume that there would be as most netbooks have this chip in them. I will also do some more of my own searching.

Thanks!
