Loading pro files in GDL

I have just started using GDL and although I can stuff to work inside GDl - plotting etc., I have been unable to load any files. I started by trying the appleman demo from the website (http://gnudatalanguage.sourceforge.net/ then click on screenshot) but just get the response

Procedure not found

I think the problem is that GDL is looking in the wrong place but I am not sure how to change where it is looking.
