View Full Version : [ubuntu] Questions about upgrading.

Last time I upgraded from Hardy to Intrepid, it had major problems.
(The clean function thing removed EVERYTHING, even gnome, it booted into console with only the basic commands. At least that was enough to backup my important data.)

Did anyone have any problems with the upgrade?
What do i have to do before upgrading?

I heard you have to deactivate thirdparty repos, but after that it wants to update a lot of stuff.
(ThirdParty repositories:
ppa.launchpad.net/tualatrix/ubuntu intrepid main
ppa.launchpad.net/tualatrix/ubuntu intrepid main (Source code)
ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main
ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main (Source code)
and wineHQ for wine, duh.
Also i got two deactivated ones: archive.canonical.com/ubuntu intrepid partner (and the same again but for source code))

Since last time i got a bit paranoid about upgrades...
Any help is welcome, thanks. :)

Here is the link to the ubuntu upgade page. Make sure you read the release notes and make backups of important stuff on the partition before you update.

For most of us the upgrades go fine but there are always some users who run into problems. Having been burned in the past I can understand your reluctance but for me and many others Jaunty has been an excellent release.
