I just finished setting up my private/public key pair in Seahorse a few days ago. I exported my private key (via Properties -> Details -> Export) so that I'd have a backup. I also exported my public key (via File -> Export) so that I could distribute it to friends. However, when I re-exported my public key today (I named it something slightly different), examining the keys in Text Editor shows them to be different. Not entirely different (the first 20 or so lines are the same). Is this normal? I thought my public key should always be the same. I haven't changed anything about the key since last exporting it. The only thing that has changed (as far as I can tell) is the day I exported it and what I named the exported file.
I was able to sign the Ubuntu Code of Conduct yesterday, so I must be doing something right. If this is normal for the text in the public key to change, then it's fine. I was just concerned and thought I should ask.
I'm on Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit if that makes any difference.
