Okay, so I've been trying to get my setup to work with a combination frontend backend and another frontend, and all of a sudden, my backend stopped having a desktop. That is, if I close mythtv, I get a blank screen with only a mouse pointer. I can't right click for anything, and nothing ever shows up. I can ctrl+alt+f# for the console, but other than that, I can't do much but zap it. (I turned off dontzap).

Really, I don't know what I did to break it. I was just dropping to my desktop to see if I could get some music files I shared from my laptop, and now all I can do is zap or hard reset back into mythtv and if I close mythtv I get another blank screen. -.-

Thanks for any help.

This just happened to me. I did a fresh install and then a system update using the update manager, and then I lost the mythbuntu background wallpaper and XFCE right-click menu on reboot.

I suspect the update changed/reset some config files, but I am not sure how to fix this.
