View Full Version : [ubuntu] AA1, Ubuntu, and BIOS

May 4th, 2009, 03:28 PM

I recently scored an Acer Aspire One, AOA 150 to be specific.

I was so excited to get Ubuntu on it, that it was the first thing I did with it when I got it home.

I found out later that, the battery is having some issues, and that this is often solved by flashing the newest bios on the system. This is where I run into problems, as all the bios files are windows executables and all the help topics on this problem are speaking from the point of view where Windows XP home is still involved (chyeah right! As if!).

Therefore, need to do this through Ubuntu somehow, because Windows XP is not coming back.

Thanks in Advance!

Did you get the bios to flash? Was just curious what version you used and if it had any effect on battery, I have bios 3309 and my battery is dying, right now it's showing 70% wear and it's only 8 months old, here's a guide on flashing the bios in case you haven't found it: http://macles.blogspot.com/2008/07/flashing-bios.html
