Report to moderator, when should I use this?

When should I use the report to moderatior button? My question is what about things like posts that need to be moved, or wanthing the title changed on a post or a poll added or a post forked? What should be done in all of these cases.

In the past I have msged the mods and asked them to do what I wanted always leaving a note at the bottem of the msg saying if there is a better way to let them know then please tell me, so far no one has said that I should not be doing that.

So I guess my question is when should I msg a mod directly and when should I use the report button?

use it everytime in your opinion the thread needs the attention of a moderator. Including things that need to be moved.
