Vlc playes video in a new window

I have checked the option to integrate video in the gui but still the video opens in a new window, whichever output I use - xv or x11.

I tried removing all config files and reinstalling too but the problem remains.

Try vlc from this PPA (https://launchpad.net/~kow/+archive/ppa)

This is a known bug, and apparently they don't plan on fixing it.
You'll have to use newer version (PPA) to solve it.

That's what I've heard on the other threads about this.
