Hi,

I was wondering this.

When will we see the next stable release of wine? Version 1.0.1 is getting old.

On their own ReleasePlan they say:
Of these, the most promising to be implemented first is USB Support for newer iPods. Ideally, this would be done by February or so, in order to stabilize Wine in time for a March/April release, which would in turn allow Wine 1.2 to ship with the next wave of distros based on the new Gnome and X. If we miss April, most users wouldn't see Wine 1.2 until November 2009.

I guess they missed the April release boat, but this seems little outdated?

Thanks!

I don't think it's outdated and you can use the beta releases as they work quite well and you are urged to report any regressions so they can be fixed asap.

Later this year sounds reasonable, plenty of time for major features to be worked on and nominated bugs to be fixed.

Stable is just a word, you're always capable of installing the lastest version of WINE from the winehq repo anyway.

I was wondering because I have experienced a couple of regressions. And I need to switch between development versions to start the program I want or to install another one.

I'll start by reporting such regressions.

Thanks for the reply!
