I just installed several programs from the ubuntu repositories for composing music and creating midi's, etc. I looked them over, and none of them appear capable of taking a scan of sheet music and creating a midi from it. I was able to do this in a program I had on Windows, but I would prefer to stick with Linux. Are there any Linux programs that will do this?
Any help will be appreciated.

None that I know of. But did you try your program with wine? 1. You scan the sheet using xsane or whatever linux program you like. 2. You use your win program to get a midi file. 3. You grab the midi and work with it in rosegarden.

I did find a program that does what I want, called Audiveris, but it's java, and I have no experience with java programs on linux, and so far I have not been able to get it running.
