Jaunty trashes laptop harddrive

FYI, my Toshiba laptop's harddrive failed after installation of Jaunty 64 bits from CD. Crash occurred on restart after installation. I was previously running Hardy. Not sure if this is related to the well known bug that I presumed was fixed. Anyway - such is life I guess.

sounds more like coincidence.

the installation of an OS with the formatting of the drive might have just woken up some badness already in the drive. I have been running jaunty on two machines one desktop one notebook since beta, and had no issues whatsoever; actually a welcome improvement over 8.10.

The "badness" on the drive was probably the vista and xp partitions :)
