I thought that .04 versions were LTS i.e. 3 years support. But 9.04 appears to only have 18 months support. I have 8.04 (which works great) but when will be the next LTS release please?

The LTS releases are every 2 years, so the next one will be 10.04

I thought that .04 versions were LTS ...
That would simply be incorrect.
See the release cycle link for an explanation of when to expect the next LTS release:

LTS releases every 2 years, so next one will be 10.04.
So the first version released in an even year is the LTS: 8.04, 10.04...

To the best of my knowledge, there have been only two LTS versions so far: 6.06 - Dapper Drake (which was probably supposed to have been the .04 version) and 8.04 Hardy Heron.
