Does it work? I installed it and used virtual desktop but the game window only takes up a corner of my screen...

any walkthroughs or ideas?

I believe there are about a hundred how tos on this topic. You could try googleing around, or even looking on the winehq appdb.

Post back if you have more questions.

works great
i always play in windowed mode --- max resolution is 800x600 eitherway; but not using a virtual desktop. -w on the command will go windowed.
i'm pretty sure it worked with sprite and directx3d, but i'm using a software glide driver.

followed the thing on winehq. issue is, that it runs really slow, fps lag like. A lot of things under wine have been running like this for some reason ever since i had to reinstall ubuntu. I have the same graphics driver and everything is back to normal like before, but wine apps don't run well now...

I play Diablo II in WINE all the time. I've never had a single problem with it. Also, be sure to thank Blizzard for putting out a patch that removes the CD requirement. :)

Yeah, about that patch...
As can be seen here:

it doesn't work for me, at least not once I install LOD...

Any clues on that?

Nevermind.. self solved :D
Had to copy ALL the mpq files from the disc and voila! :)

I have it running at 1360x768 using glide.
If I recall there's a guide somewhere for doing this be it's been ages since I set it up.
