Problems with HP Laserjet 1005 and Ubuntu 9.04: I have my printer connected to the parallel port. I have HPLIP installed, as well as CUPS. HPLIP will find my printer and install it, I download the plugin, and everything works fine for a few hours, then stops working. When printing a document it goes through the sending job messages, but doesn't print. I get a message from HPLIP that there is a connection problem and the printer has a red X on it in the HPLIP GUI. Is there any way to permanently install the driver and plugins? I couldn't get it to work at all under Ubuntu 8.10 for lack of HP driver support (HP's fault).
