What kind of media players are available for Ubuntu? It dismays me that there are no equalizers for the Rhythmbox player. I'm pretty sure with all the brainiacs out there someone has a similar alternative to WMP with Klite codecs installed :)

I use mine to watch videos (from DVD and flash card avi/mkv/etc) and ripping cd's. I don't have a DVDRW/CDRW yet but if I did ever get one I'd like the option to burn with a variety of formats (mp3, aac, vbr, etc) available as I choose.

I use:

Banshee for mp3s

GnomeBaker for burning

I am currently using Exaile for audio and Totem for video. Exaile is also great if you like to listen to Shoutcast streams, its one of the few that actually have search functionality.

WMP with klite still does not play the basic formats I use in Linux.. Although it is pretty nice looking.

I would say use VLC, as the poster above did.

I USE:

Music: Rhythmbox/Banshee/Elisa
Videos: Totem-Gstreamer/Elisa
DVDs: Totem-Xine/Mplayer/VLC/Elisa
