View Full Version : Digital Sound from analog video?

Hi,

I'm trying to redo the setup of the audio and I'm a bit confused.

I have a Fusion HDTV tuner and have a cable running from that into the CD input of a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card.

I get no sound from recordings of analog cable (V4l driver).

I have just recently also set the audio to output via the SPDIF connector on the sound card and I love that but I'm not sure it's possible to get output from the SPDIF of the analog sound from the tuner.

If anyone can follow that or help me re-prase it... I could use some pointers...

Thanks,

Brian

Hi,

I likely posed this question in a way no one can follow.

... Oh well.

I'm lost audio wise. If I enable analog sound output I can get sound from my V4l capture device but it doesn't get recorded and also changing inputs makes a weird sound that I don't like.

If I enable SPDIF output, I get great digital sound but no sound from the V4l capture device live or recorded.

I'm mostly tempted to forget the V4l capture device completely. HD channels from the DVB input look sooo much better it's a shame to spend any time looking at SD these days. But there are still a few shows I would record from the other input if I could get it working.

Hi,

In case anyone was interested... I got it working.

I enabled capture options in the mixer till something just worked.

I'm a true newb to linux but I'm having unreasonable luck and enjoying it.

So far... every problem I've found... I've fixed. This is fun!
