Hello

I just ordered a Hauppauge wintv-pvr-500 and am going to install mythbuntu. will that card I purchaced work with mythbuntu?????

My other question

If I have dish network, can I record more than 1 channel at a time? Or watch one thing and recprd another? I have 1 dish network box. I don't think it will work, but I am really new to this. If it will work, what will my setup be like? I do have a 4 port lnb. Is it possible to hook up the lnb to the pvr-500 card? Bypassing the DN box? Or am I going to have to have DN on one port and cable on the other?

Thanks

Andy

Yes, the PVR-500 box will work with Mythbuntu, just plug it in and set it up.

You will need 1 DN box for every channel you want to record at the same time (live TV counts as recording). You cannot bypass the DN box and go straight to the PVR-500 card.

If you want mythtv to change the channel on your dish box then you will need an irblaster. This is the one I use and it's only $12. Do you know what model# of the satellite box you are getting? It might be the standard 311, or the newer dual tuner 625 pvr one?

Hi, I have a question:

I am building a mythbuntu device. It can play back the channel that I set the box to. My ir blaster and receiver will be showing up in the mail shortly. When I look at the part to manually schedule a recording, it gives me the choice of channels 3 or 4.

The problem:
Only two channels are listed.

My question is:
How do I sync up my blaster with mythbuntu so I can tell it to record channel "107" at a certain time and then have it do so?

I think I can figure out how to make the blaster and receiver work, but how do I make mythbuntu able to record from its interface when there are only two channels (of which only channel 3 is used)?

What is the piece of magic I am missing?
