I'm not sure I'm posting the right thread in the right place, but here goes.

I'm trying to install US 9.04 to an HP G60 notebook. I've previously installed Intrepid (now gone) on this machine, and an installation of 64 Studio 3 beta is still on it (and working nicely).

When I run the DVD installer everything works fine until near the end of the Select And Install Software stage. I've tried both the i386 and amd64 ISOs, both fail at exactly the same point. I can abort the installation, my 64 Studio partition is intact, so there's no foul. But I'd like to figure out how to resolve the problem and move on from the point of failure.

Btw, I did try to simply proceed. The next step was the grub installer, it failed too. And I did check the MD5 sum and the disc(s) integrity. It's all good.

I'm willing to try any suggestions, so fire away. And if I'm posting in the wrong place, please advise. TIA. :)

Okay, so no joy forthcoming from this forum. Maybe I'm posting in the wrong spot ? Please advise if so. Btw, I looked up the error on Google again and discovered that it's a known problem. In fact, at least a few users have reported the problem exactly as it occurs here, but those reports are for previous versions of Ubuntu. One of them complained about it being even then an old and unresolved problem. Old or no, it's new to me and it has me completely dead in the water re: installing Ubuntu Studio. So, if I get no help here with this bump I'll try some other forums.
