Hi all,
I've written a step-by-step tutorial explaining how to convert virtual machins with VMware Converter, specifically convert ESX / ESXi virtual machines with pre-allocated flat vmdk hard disks to growable hard disks for VMware Player, Server and Workstation.
The tutorial demonstrates with screenshots taken on a Windows host, mainly, but there's also a pair of screenshots from a Linux host (openSUSE), just to show that VMware Converter works well both on Windows and Linux.

I hope this can help some of you. I know this is not strictly Ubuntu-related, but then virtualization is all about a higher form of freedom (cross-platform) ...
Regards,
