Can anyone help? I lost my sound on the change from Ubuntu 8.10 Which worked, and does not now, under Xubuntu 9.04. I have searched some forum for this info, but am unable to determine the problem may be.
Dell Inspiron 8200
Crystal CS4205
Everuthing else seems to work without many tweaks.
Any help is appreciated

I always have problems with sound in xubuntu.
To solve the problem I open the sound preferences (left click over the sound icon on the top menu) and start touching everything I can :)
Now my problem is that the Volume Keys are not working with 9.04 :(

DrKenobi, sometimes the simplest solutions as the ones overlooked. Thanks a lot, I am now where you are. Sound working but volume keys are not.
Thanks!!

Same here :(
Since upgrade to Xubuntu Jaunty (also after clean install) and fiddling with the volume mixer settings, I am still left with dead volume buttons on my Asus laptop...
Both the Fn+F10/F11/F12 key combinations and the volume buttons on the front side of the laptop used to control my sound volume level just fine. Now they don't anymore.
Anyone got a hint where to look or what was dropped and should be installed again to fix this?
Thanks!
