I just installed jaunty (amd64) alongside my xp install (which had previously worked alongside interpid), however when I tried to boot xp I get

Grub Error 13: "Invalid or unsupported executable format"

my grub menu.lst is as follows (it has been edited as reccomended in previous threads, but to no avail)

# menu.lst - See: grub(8), info grub, update-grub(8)
# grub-install(8), grub-floppy(8),
# grub-md5-crypt, /usr/share/doc/grub
# and /usr/share/doc/grub-doc/.

Any help appreciated!

Try

title Windows XP
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
chainloader +1

If that does not work, post the output of

sudo fdisk -lu

changing the grub entry to hd0,0 worked! thanks.
the auto config on install isn't great, apparently.

Great.

It works most of the times. But the installer does not know the actual boot order in the bios. So sometimes it goes wrong.
