Howdy all,

The main ubuntu website suggested that I post a hello message, so I am following up on that. I have been using Ubuntu for about 8 months now and love it. Great user community and support...

The best way to learn linux is just to install it as your primary system, afterwhich you are forced to deal with whatever issues arrive. Same with any O.S., but the open source community has been great to work with and well worth any investment that may be in question. I made this switch back in 2001 and worked with Red Hat / Fedora Core for a while and have been an advocate ever since.

I would add that there hasn't been a problem I couldn't resolve with the available support provided. I have installed Mapserver, GRASS, PostGIS, as well as the next best PHP/MySQL Content Managment Systems and all have worked great.

Keep up the great work everyone... I am with you.

Thanks,
Happy New Year! Time to reboot (although with preserving those uptimes) and start afresh. I'm all for that!

Good deal! It's always nice to have yet more people in the community.
A lovely time of year to make the switch. Rather symbolic.

L'chaim, everyone! Here's hoping for a good year!
