OK, I've been running 8.10 with netbook remix on my Mini 9. I don't like maximus always maximizing everything, so its easy enough to simply not install it when installing the remix components. All is well.

However, with 9.04, when you install ubuntu-netbook-remix, it automatically brings maximus along, and if you try to remove it, it takes ubuntu-netbook-remix along with it.

I realize I can simply remove maximus from the Startup list, but its highly annoying.

Anyone else having any configuration issues moving to 9.04 netbook?

If a simple solution is to take it from startup list i would just do that. I dont use a netbook but am plannin on getting one probably.

I am running 8.10 Vanilla on the Mini 9. The whole reason I made the switch from the DELLBuntu was because of Maximus. I guess it is attached to the Netbook dialogues for some reason.

Is the netbook remix worth it? I have two desktops in one column in case I have a screen that spills over. Then I can drag the screen so the bottom of the top desktop and move down one desktop and enjoi comfort.

Enjoi comfort with me. Maximus is a buzz kill.

Personally, I really enjoy the 8.10 remix. I have the top menu bar, with 2 desktops and a switcher applet as well. I'm wanting a way to essentially keep my setup in 9.04.

I've gone back to 8.10 in th meantime. WHen the repo's calm down, I'll do another install this weekend of 9.04. Hopefully downloads will be snappy again.

Ok, I backed up my /home partion from 8.10 and did a clean install, formatting both / and /home as ext4 and installed th Netbook Remix .img

After booting into the new OS, I disabled maximus from Startup, and copied my old /home back into place, merging/overwriting everything as appropriate. Reboot.

Voila! I've now got my trusty familiar /home/laire directory & settings, NO MAXIMUS :), and a snazzy new Ext4 partition.

All I need to do now is add medibuntu, winehq, and a few more apps & I should be back in business.

I'm not too familiar with the netbook remix, but isn't ubuntu-netbook-remix just a metapackage (i.e. removing it doesn't frag anything)?
