I tried posting a question in the hardware section, but it went down faster than a 2$ hooker.

You're a bit of a character. You want drivers for what?

P.S. You're not Loverock Davidson by any chance?

Not unless I metamorphosised without realising.

I'm trying to find a driver for my Voodoo 5500.

For most hardware, you don't need to install drivers in Ubuntu. What driver do you want? Which hardware?

Regretfully, I have a strong feeling you're not going to find drivers for that old 3dfx card. Even getting windows drivers has been difficult since they went Chapter 7 bankrupt back in 2002. Nvidia bought the assets (most of which morphed into what we know as the GeForce FX series), but generally didn't support the older Voodoo line of cards that well.

I guess it's back to the cardboard coffin with the PC then.

You could always get an elcheapo graphics card off ebay or something for it, if you don't it to just sit there.

I have little interest in changing any components, I was just trying to shake myself into the modern age.
I shouldn't have bothered. The internet has become an ugly, overcrowded mess.

Have you tried xserver-xorg-video-tdfx? Supposedly supports the Voodoo 5 ( xserver-xorg-video-voodoo is only for Voodoo 1 and 2 ).

I'm guessing Newegg for a new card is your best option.
