Hello to all , i was wondering if i could download jaunty to my pc then write it to my flash and then load it on to my mini9 ? Any input would be much appreciated..

Yes, you can make a bootable USB stick and run jaunty without installing it. If you want, you can install it to your hdd too.

Hey thanks i do want to install it , but my question was does it matter if i download it to my mini or my pc? i would like to do it to the pc for speed reason's...

It doesn't matter but to make a bootable disk, you have to download the desktop edition.

I realize unetbootin is popular, but why does everyone go for that when there's a native Ubuntu solution?
In 8.10, it's System >Administration>"Create a USB Startup disk"
In 8.04 simply install it:
sudo apt-get install usb-creator
