I'm running Intrepid that is fully updated, but when I try to upgrade to Jaunty via the update manager, the 'upgrade' option does not appear.

Do any changes need to be made to the Software Sources.

Thanks for your help

Set to "normal" should be fine...

Do you have it set up to search for new releases?

System -> Administration -> Software Sources -> Updates

Make sure at the bottom (Release Upgrade) is set to "Normal Releases".

I have the "Release upgrade" set to "normal releases" and it still doesn't give the option to upgrade

Ok. I tried to follow the instructions on:
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading#Upgrading%20Using%20the%20Alternate%20CD/DVD

I downloaded the iso and tried first to mount it, and then to burn it to cd. For both cases the update dialog didn't appear.

To me it seems like ubuntu doesn't know that it needs to (or can) update. Is this possible? How can I resolve this. A fresh install of ubuntu is not something that I want to do at this stage

I woke up this morning and tried to update and I have the upgrade option. I have no idea what changed.

Thanks to everyone for their help.
