Probably too late to do anything about it, but in the future, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to post an announcement in the common help forums (ABT, General) letting people know not to freak out that updates and installs don't work, and explain how to try another mirror, or just suggest waiting it out...

Personally, I think it should be pretty obvious that the software repositories are going to be slow on release day (and +/- a couple days). But, nevertheless, there have been numerous threads/posts about it today that probably could have been avoided...

Anyways, that's all...not a big deal, but thought I'd throw that out there.

By the way, is it just me, or are the forums unusually snappy right now? What did the server/forum gods do? This is the polar opposite of what I expected today :D

I agree with the idea.

Also the distribution system needs to be more p2p than it is if possible. Something such as integration with a modified bit torrent model. i.e. Make the repositories pull form p2p sources and ahvethe package managers check the hashes for validity.

Yeah. A little off-topic, but is anyone using apt-p2p yet? I haven't tried it yet and was wondering how it's weathering the storm?
