Hello all,
Shortly we are about to move an entire development team from Windows XP running in VMWare Workstation 5.5 on an XP host to WindowsXP running in VMWare Workstation 6.5 on a 64bit linux host. I have been trialled this successfully on my own machine, and we're about to bring everyone else over.
The host machines will be have Core 2 Duo E8400 processors and 4 GB RAM. The XP guests will be used as as full-bore development machines.
My question is: Is there any performance benefit to be gained from, say, using a server kernel? I have read though the performance section of the Workstation manual, but if you have any other tips for getting the most of a Linux host, would also appreciated hearing them.
Cheers,
