I have a J4680 all in one. Ubu 8.04 has found hpsetup ok
but there is still no connection. If an HP rep sees this especially
but anyone who knows.... what is the detailed process for an ad hoc connection.Again ,I have hpsetup showing up..... I tried s bunch of stuff in wireless settings on the printer but not.....
Do I have to run the CD..?? its for Windows and Mac.. no????
Can I run it in Wine and do I have to???? thanks

You don't need hpsetup. Just open System/Adminstration/Printing, and select Add a new printer. Ubuntu should find the printer, and let you tell it the make and model if it doesn't find it. Just take the defaults if they make sense, and it should work. It should go out and get the hplip stuff and install it, after getting permission, and then scanning, fax, and printing should work. HP provides good Linux support, so it shouldn't be a big deal. My HP all-in-one works perfectly under Ubuntu, but it has never scanned anything under Windows, and the Windows software simply wouldn't install, even after hours on the phone to India and having a new CD shipped. Printing under Linux works.

Exactly what do you mean by 'wifi print ad hoc'?

only the HP rep is going to know what I mean.

Then you're probably posting in the wrong place. Have you tried the HP forums, or HP customer service?
