View Full Version : [ubuntu] Theme settings went wonky after restart

I had my environment skinned just the way I wanted and it stayed like that for a few days. Now the time came to restart my computer, and when I did, things apparently screwed themselves up and made it look stupid. The primary problem is with my panel bar, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are other problems.

The best way I can explain this is with before and after pictures.

Before (good): http://img378.imageshack.us/img378/4728/goodg.png

After (bad): http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/3552/badj.png

Ignore the change to the "start" button and a couple other icons, that was intentional. The problem here is that the clean little separator things to the left of the window switcher and notification area turned into ugly gray bars, and all text on it turned black, making it impossible to read the clock or any unselected window. In addition, the window switcher now highlights active windows in an ugly gray that stands out like a sore thumb.

I tried switching to another theme and back but that didn't fix it. How do I fix this?

Ugh one hour and not a single person viewed this topic. Bump.

I've had the same problems with certain theme packages that worked fine till I restarted.

Last week I installed a really nice icon theme, but once I applied it, it made the panel flash rapidly even though the rest of the desktop was fine.

I've always assumed that it was an issue with the theme package.

Switch themes and see if it happens again.
