Dell XPS One issues

I've installed Ubuntu 9.04 on a 24" Dell XPS One. The major components work, but the touchscreen-like buttons on the side of the monitor are off (instead of the usual lit-up blue color) and don't record any input - xev doesn't show anything happening when they are pressed. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I know this is an old thread but I need to load 9.04 on the XPS One. Was the installation straight forward or were there some tricks to some of the drivers. Thanks for any info.
