I know that the Berkeley university isn't in the UK, but did you know that they have laid out their courses for free on the web to download?

They have courses in computer science too. Don't want to get off topic with this but it might be worth a look. Look here (http://webcast.berkeley.edu/courses.php?semesterid=2008-D).

I'm not familiar with the UK university system but you should search for courses that focus on the concepts, not the language(s) themselves. The languages will turn out to be irrelevant, you'll want to think like a programmer / computer scientist instead of learning the details of a particular language. When a course dives too much into the specifics of a (popular) language, I wouldn't recommend it. You'll learn these things while programming anyway.

You find alot of languages are VERY similiar if you learn from concept as stated above. Then on your own just dig into the diffrent functions and it makes it much easier to move from there and develope your particular language/languages of choice that you favor.

the course i'm looking to sign for is some thing to do with with computing and mathematical some sort of thing, to make it more interesting. Because i can program any way and it's possible to learn programming by your self. There for it will be much more interesting to learning some thing new about computers, for example on how to encrypt password.
