They have been closed indefinitely. I'm looking for ubuntu-geek's post about it, but it's been almost 2 months since they were closed.

Grubbn has started its own mini-Other OS as a lifeboat for those displaced by this tragedy.

But why did they get rid of it?
If I have to join another forum, I suppose I might as well just join an all windows forum.
I liked having an all in one.
My user name & stuff wont work over there will it?

Same here, I don't quite understand why they opted to get rid of the "Other OS" forum rather then "Community Cafe Games". Alas, I'll never quite understand.:(

I sooo agree on the removal of Other OS.
Bandwidth and server space do not come free, and MS has it's own tech support already in place.
If you wanna put it another way:
If win-dose has a surge of issues, there will also be a surge on Ub-forum of posts asking for win-dose help, resulting in:
"the worst M$ OS works, the higher the forum bill is going to be"
it just doesn't sound right

Might I ask why you refer to Windows as "win-dose"?
It's true, bandwidth and server costs do not come free, but I don't understand how that relates to the "Other OS" section of the forum being removed. If server costs were an issue wouldn't they have cited that as the reason for moving Other OS talk in the first place?
Besides, It would have been a better choice to remove Community Cafe Games IMO.

This discussion has already happened numerous times. We felt that other distributions have their own forums, and we should direct support there in the interest of playing nice with the rest of the open source community. We have been looking for ways to slim down a bit, to help keep the forums database more manageable, and to focus our efforts.
It was decided that the Community Cafe and its Games are help build a sense of community here, whereas Other OS Talk did not fulfill this purpose to the same extent.

I call it win-dose because it has the effect of a shot of some nasty drug on my system...
and, Community Cafe relates to the Ubuntu community (smart comment eh?) Other Os doesn't.
If your house-party gets to full of guests, who has to go? your family and close friends or this random fella that you barely know and that snuck in without you noticing?

Fair enough.

I'm not sure whether that's clever or stupid.

I'd say it is a stupid comment with a little wit to spice

The original question has been answered and the discussion has devolved into grumpiness. I'm closing the thread so we won't end up giving infractions.
