I think Edubuntu needs a special forum.

Edubuntu team made great job merging Linux Terminal Server Project with Ubuntu. Also graphics are great!
In my case Edubuntu worked very well, more than K12LTSP.

But we need a specific forum to talk about implementing Edubuntu into our systems and we need to talk about using it for better teaching.

I moved this thread to site discussion.

I changed the the title : "I'm demanding Edubuntu forum" into a more polite : "requesting Edubuntu forum"

I agree we need an Edubuntu forum before Dapper gets released.

There is an edubuntu mailing list, correct? Can we have a mailing list interface section too? Even if it were read-only?

As I have said before, perhaps many of the end-users of edubuntu are not as computer savvy as the rest of us. A web forum is perhaps easier to access for these people.

I'll see how we can fit this into the forums :) If they have a mailing list we can integrate that as well. I'll research it today.

I request also.

And can I point out that after showing my daughter (9) edubuntu she requested that it be installed on her pc which is already dual boot (and that she moaned about before), there is hope!!!!!:-D

Sounds great to me, the users at schools or colleges who use them can get support from this site, that will deffinently enhance the user support.

Great idea!

Thumbs up for Edubuntu forum from me too.

Just recently started the kids using it.
If only Microsoft could see me now....

Most likely we'll add a Edubuntu section when dapper is released.

Has anything been done with the Edubunto forum yet?

How do I get to the listserv if there is such a thing?

Immediate questiuon is: has the Edubuntu live cd been patched so that the options tabs stay open?

I made up one live cd to show around and the first tab wouldn't stay open. I do not want to show a live cd that only partially works.

An install to cd did not have this problem.

The probelm also occurred on more than one machine
so it wasn't a hardware thing.

Anxiously awaiting replies to this.

I just did an install on an old laptop and use that to show people.
Many of my customers are really interested in an operating system that is:
1) Free.
2) Educational.
3) Waaaay more secure than Micro$oft
4) Cost of ownership is less due to not having to pay for Virus/Security suite.

LiveCD is a bit misleading due to CD drive access times.

I support the request for an Edubuntu forum.

There are many issues unique to Edubuntu, and the people involved may have a profile different from other Ubuntu users.

Over December, I set up a 40 user Edubuntu lab at my children's primary school, converting (really) old PCs into thin terminals. It is in daily use, but it lacks many finishing touches.

There were often times when I would have liked linking to a community. The devel mailing list helped a lot, but it was not always appropriate or responsive.

Thank you for your many replies and support of this great Ubuntu-based project. Please see this sticky thread (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=743923#post743923) regarding the Edubuntu forum area. :)
