How large should I make the vbox partition to run Mint on? And how much Ram do I have to assign to the virtual machine for mint to run smoothly.
I'm using mint 4 or 6... not sure yet

Hi,
That depends on what you can spare and the minimum specs for mint to run.
How much ram and hard disk space do you have.

My computer only runs on one GB of RAM right now... but I have a couple hundred GB of hard disk space available

Ok try half a gig for Mint ..which will be more than enough. If the vm crashes reduce it.
usually there's an option to make the memory usage dynamic.
Disc space..if you will be storing videos and music then be generous with the disc space. If not then no problem. I have a fully functional Linux installation on less than 3.5 gb but that's Arch so use an extra Gig (or check Mint Wiki for more official info).

By the way ..good choice, I used to use Mint and it's a nice OS.
