View Full Version : [ubuntu] Brother DCP-770CW printer not working

April 21st, 2009, 08:43 PM

I've set up my DCP-770CW printer from Brother to use my wireless network. It shows as connected. I've installed the drivers on my laptop by going to the packagemanager and install brother-lpr-drivers-extra and brother-cups-wrapper-extra.

I had my printer working - but suddenly it didn't. As far as I know, I haven't done anything. But I'm new to Ubuntu and Linux in general so I'm not sure, that I haven't pused any wrong button but haven't really done anything printer-related. Could it be the automaticupdates? Always just accepting them blindly.

The printer stopped working keep saying that the printer may not be connected. I deleted the printer and reinstalled the drivers but now it doesn't even show up under Administration -> Print (not sure, that's what it's named - running a danish version and it might not be translated right - but I'm refering to the printerconfiguration)

Anyone have any advice?

Sorry for bad english.

Thanks in advance.

Just tested with USB cable. It detected the printer automatically (drivers installed, though) and working fine.
