View Full Version : [ubuntu] Sound issue macbook 4,1

Hey all,

I recently installed ubuntu on my macbook. The sound has been a bit strange since; both with headphones and without. It seems to peak at a much lower volume than before, which is no good for rockin' out.

Anyone had a similar issue or could point me in the right direction - thanks.

Our model apparently has three speakers. Ubuntu only recognizes two, hence the tinny sound. Headphones sound normal to me, though I have cheap ones. This page has some info and a link to the bug report:

The third speaker can be enabled as described in the MacBook4-1/Jaunty guide (haven't tested it in Intrepid), but this unfortunately disables the headphone jack :(
