Pulseaudio + 5.1 Surround + Optical cable

I'm trying to configure my system to work. I've got a Logitech Z5500 Digital speaker system connected to my soundcard with an optical cable. I manage to get the sound to work from my front speakers, but not from the rear. Is it even possible to get this combination to work?

My soundcard is a Intel HD Audio integrated on my ASUS P6T deluxe motherboard.

Any ideas?

That doesn't solve my problem. I want 5.1 surround using an optical cable with the SPDIF output.
