I would like to get a capture card to convert old VHS (composite cable will be used) to DVD or save them to my comp. I would also like to pull down HDTV over the air and record it/watch it live.
So, what cards have a good rep with ubuntu. I have heard good things about Hauppauge...
What do you guys think/recomend?
Also, would this system be strong enough to record hd video? (The computer is actually a file server running ubuntu server that I am booting to ubuntu desktop so it wont need to play hd just record it... I hope)
Mobo: ASUS P5QL PRO
MEM: 1gb kingston @ 800mhz (might be 1066. I forget)
CPU: e1400 (2.0 ghz dual core)
Vid card: OLD ATI card. maybe 64 mb...
