View Full Version : Extra Buttons not working in 9.04 RC

First of all, I have to say that for the most part I really like 9.04 RC, I'm currently installing it on another laptop that doesn't have a lot of extra buttons to see if the function buttons work. Hopefully I'll be able to keep it, although I'll probably put a fresh 8.10 back on this current machine.

Machine: IBM/Lenovo X41 Tablet

What works - just about everything so far. I upgraded from 8.10 and after the upgrade the tablet still worked, acpi_listen still hears the screen rotation (although i disabled the script because the buttons for screen rotation never worked so I couldn't rotate back in tablet mode), and it seems to boot up faster than before.

What doesn't - every button that isn't a standard keyboard button. Volume buttons, mute button, and every button on the screen (page up / page down buttons, screen rotation, esc, enter, etcetera). I tried acpi_listen and nothing registers. You can probably imagine how important these buttons are when using a tablet.

Suspend seems to work better - sometimes it doesn't start up so quick but at least it reconnects to wifi after wakeup (it never did in 8.10)

Sorry if this is out there already but I did a few quick searches and nobody seemed to say much about this topic other than once I saw a mention of volume buttons.

I wish these buttons worked or if there was a fix to get them to register - then I'd have the perfect windowsless tablet pc. But I don't know the first thing about getting buttons to register that acpi_listen doesn't hear.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Zach
