I have a printer, HP LaserJet 4L, that takes a bit too long to print. I will send a document to be printed and will then get a message that the printer may not be connected. Sometime later, from 30 minutes to a little over 5 hours it will suddenly print the document. The output is normal, but I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction to shorten the wait time.

The printers only connection is by parallel cable, and it worked fine with my old motherboard that had a parallel port. When I changed to a new motherboard without that connection, I had to get a parallel to USB adapter cable. The current connection works normally when printing in Windows. I have another USB printer that works normally in Ubuntu.
