I'm pretty new with ubuntu. I used to have windows xp and ubuntu 8.10 installed on two partitions of the same harddrive.
I just bought a new harddrive (HD 320G|WD 7K 8M ATA100 WD3200AAJB). First I installed windows on it and it worked fine. When I tried to install ubuntu but I get a long list of errors like this:

BUFFER I/O error on device sr0 logical block xxxxx

I can't even run it from the disk only as live cd. The same errors will come up.
I can boot into windows without any problem.

It's the only harddrive in the computer and there doesn't need to be any jumper set.

Also I had ubunut 8.10 and windows running on the same computer before. The only thing that changed is the harddrive.

Thank you for any help

sr0 refers to your CD ROM drive.

a) Check your media.
b) Try a CD that has been burnt at a lower speed.
c) Check the CD drive.
