I'm having a problem now where compiz only stays active for about 10 seconds before reverting to metacity.
I just did a re-install of intrepid after breaking my system hacking on the init-functions file. My home directory is on a separate partition and i did not reformat home for the re-install.
Is there a command option or log file that i can monitor to try to troubleshoot this problem?

System: amd64
graphics: Ati

Any help much appreciated.

Have you installed the Fusion Icon?

You can change the widow decorator there from MetaCity to GTK or whatever.

try re-installing the compiz files in synaptic, I have had similar problems in the past, and that did the trick.

Also it would be a good idea (as stated above) to get the Fusion Tray Icon. You can get it through the Add/Remove app's function.
