Hi,

I'm trying to install the elementaryOS-blue usplash theme, from gnome-look.org, but I can't get it to work.

After reading the article at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/USplash, I installed StartUp-Manager and set it to use elementaryOS-blue, however, now when I boot up and shut down, I just get the black screen with text scrolling.
I don't even get the default Ubuntu boot-up screen.

Any suggestions as to what I might have done wrong or is there a better 'how-to' article for usplash?
I'm looking for an easy (read: GUI) method for changing the theme. :)

Thanks!

I'm having the same problem, I can't get a splash screen to work for the life of me (and I too have startup manager installed).

Certain usplashes work on some boot resolutions only. I got this (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Usplash+BlackChrome?content=60249) to work by changing the boot resolution to 1024x768 using the startup manager.

My one included a backdrop at the correct resolution (which is the one I selected in StartUp-Manager).

Do the relevant files need to sit in a particular directory?

I doubt it, since you can browse to the location and select them, but I'm stuck...
