Not sure if this is right forum to post this suggestion..but anyway...just thought it would be nice if there was a seperate section that people who were into making music,,wheather with loops or playing guitar or keyboard..or even rapping.lol..There are a few linux music programs that are almost if not close to the commercial versions..like Cubase and Pro Tools...you have Ardour which is a Pro Tools clone that is really nice..you have Rosegarden 4 , a midi sequencer thats pretty good..and muse..not to mention drum machines like Hydeogen or TK707..then theres Linuxsampler,Liquidsynth,Sawmi..etc..a lot of cool music creation programs...just think it would be great to have a seperate forum for people who are into music to go to to find out to get there midi set up and how to get such and such program working other then just the video and sound section under hardware...any way just a thought..thanks

I second this.
It might include a how-to for install jack and oss.
Ubuntu needs better audio support in General. Its the only downside compared to other distros

I'd like to see this happen as well but I think there isn't enough interest in audio production using Ubuntu to warrant a separate forum. I myself am working hard on getting my hardware (pro sound card, midi controllers etc.) working in Breezy and getting JACK to work with low latency in realtime mode, but again, I don't think there are enough of us to justify the purpose of another section.
Now come on everyone, prove me wrong!
(btw, this should be moved to the forums discussion section.)

I have met a few people who won't switch to Linux until the audio is sorted out. I also see no reason not to have a forum for this, audio is much more import than a lot of people think :)

There's already a "Video and Sound" section that's appropriate for general audio problems; what's meant here is software aimed at people who do audio production using Ubuntu, not general audio stuff.

I would love to see this happen. Audio in Ubuntu is highly overlooked. I used to be able to make tons of tunes (at home) when I was using Windows. I miss it, but I DO NOT miss micro$oft.

Sorry I should have been more specific, I meant quality audio production too :)
