My Mom's new Pangolin Performance shows a battery time of 1 hour 40 minutes. I know this can't be right. What can we reasonably expect from this machine? How do I calibrate the battery?

"Calibration" seems to occur as you use the battery. I used mine through abut 5 cycles and it stabilized at a projection of around 2 hours, which seems accurate.
To some extent this will vary with how your machine is configured and how you use it. Given the size of the battery, however, I would be surprised if even a power-frugal person got more than 2:15 to 2:20 out of it.
Nice machine (indeed!) if you operate on line power most of the time. Not the best machine for long periods of time sprawled on the carpet at your local airport using battery and wireless.

1:45 is what my Pangolin shows and it is about right.
With the good video, it is a good time actually. Turn off compiz and some other things and you might be bale to get more.
