I came accross this website that helps choose a linux distro after answering a few questions. So I though why not post it here. Wondering which distro you should, or what other options there are, check out this link http://www.zegeniestudios.net/ldc/index.php?lang=en
After i took the survey, it suggested either Ubuntu or Debian, so I am right at home. WHat about you?

when i took the test again with me being a linux-nitwit, it gave me Mandriva as a match

Ubuntu is a complete Linux-based operating system, freely available with both community and professional support. Ubuntu includes more than 1,000 pieces of software, starting with the Linux kernel version 2.6 and Gnome 2.10, and covering every standard desktop application from word processing and spreadsheet applications to internet access applications, web server software, email software, programming languages and tools and of course several games.
jippii... i just had to test if ubuntu is for me... and it is... :D

Same as mo_x here! Kubuntu first, Mandriva second. Switched from Mandriva to Kubuntu 3 weeks ago and couldn't be happier :)

I remember when it first came out. Interesting what choices it gives me as I have improved my skills. Last time, it came up with Ubuntu, which I am currently running.

I got exactly the same as Norberg :).
Was disappointed that when I answered a lot of newbie answers (know no Linux, need GUI etc.) that Ubuntu wasn't even an option :)

Ubuntu, Debian, Kubuntu, Mepis. No surprise, except for Mepis (which I'm not familiar with).

The result is not that conclusive. If you are happy with your setup, there is no need to change. Don't do like I did and change to SUSE just for the sake of being cool, and then go back to Ubuntu in a split second.

1. Ubuntu
2. Mandrake
guess i am not the only on in the process of leaving mandrake for ubuntu...
I hear the apt-get and .deb are an awesome part of the debian based ditros....
speaking of switching, i need to go to the Post office and see if my ShipIt cd's are in....please be in (crossing fingers)

the result does not mean that you should move to another distro, but it is interesting to see what it sugest after answering the survey. overall the thing is not that bad, it gives some pretty good suggestions.

I liked SUSE's polishedness but the lack of apt-get, the slowness of YAST and the lack of a community like that of Ubuntuforums clinched it for me. Also, KDE 3.5 wouldn't install, and put me into dependency hell!!

Looks like Ubuntu's for me too. It also suggested Kubuntu (Said I didn't mind which of Gnome or KDE), Mandriva and Mepis. Think I'll stick with Ubuntu, but may try Kubuntu if I have to do another system :)
